Susan began her fire service career early on in life as a Fire Cadet in the City of Brea.  She then was hired as a Fire/EMS Dispatcher for the City of Costa Mesa.  Soon after, Susan was hired at North Comm in 1988 (then known as Rancho Fire Communications) and was promoted to the position of Communications  Supervisor in 1993.  Susan remained in that position for eight years where she headed the new Tritech CAD project implementation and training process which North Comm is still proudly using at this time.  Although Susan retired in late 2002, she came back to North Comm as a part time employee and volunteers to work as much if not more than a full time dispatcher.

Susan is the peer-selected Dispatcher of the Year for 2009. Some of the comments made in her nominations were:
